The “E” dominates the ESG debate—CO₂, climate risks, taxonomy. The “G” is driven, at least for publicly traded companies, by governance obligations. The “S,” on the other hand, is often the neglected child: difficult to measure, difficult to communicate, and it’s never quite clear what it actually encompasses. The title “The underestimated S” highlights precisely this contradiction—everyone talks about ESG, but the “S” is often only half-heartedly addressed.
