Financial accounting is an important source of data for sustainability analyses. This is where a lot of ESG-relevant information is recorded, such as expenses for the delivery of goods, hospitality, travel expenses or other external services. As a rule, this information involves values that are sometimes converted into quantities and allocated to different categories for the calculation of carbon footprints. The Import Mapping module of the ESG Cockpit provides efficient support to speed up this step, reduce manual effort and establish a standardised way of working for calculations in the spend-based approach:
This function enables intelligent mapping of e.g. accounts (or other key columns) to input data points. With the help of conversion and split rules, Excel extracts can be easily imported into the cockpit, regardless of the source system. For example, it is possible to assign travel expenses directly to the correct data points for rail journeys, air travel or hotel accommodation according to self-defined distribution keys or to continue using existing reporting lists in the personnel area.
Once the mapping and allocation has been adapted to the data situation and booking practices, the corresponding data can be loaded into the cockpit in subsequent periods at the touch of a button. At the same time, the allocation can also be adapted to changed circumstances at any time.
