ESG-Cockpit can automatically import data from the energy data hub for ESG reporting
At the WKO EDAY in May 2025, the initial technical feasibility of the ESG Super Tool was presented. This data-driven service enables the efficient management of the shared energy data space. The tool is being developed as part of the USEFLEDS project, to which akaryon also contributes. The ESG Super Tool features an interface with akaryon’s ESG-Cockpit, enabling the automated collection of electricity and energy data from energy suppliers.
Outlook: Multi-stakeholder data management
Following the successful implementation of automated data transfers in 2025, work in 2026 will focus on multi-client capability, enabling data from multiple consumers to be transferred to the ESG-Cockpit.
Combined with the results of other work packages – including those focusing on making artificial intelligence usable – the “ESG Super Tool” is set to provide a solution for faster and more comprehensive implementation of the European Green Deal.
The plan is to pilot the solution in Tyrol’s gastronomy and hospitality sector and gradually extend it to other industries.
Trustworthy data handling is key
In a MIA Mission Innovation Austria podcast, Anna Cossa from nexyo, a key provider of expertise in data sovereignty for the use of the ESG Super Tool, spoke with MIA editor Christian Spanik about the technical structures that enable trusted data exchange with added value within a shared data space. A central principle – also implemented in the USEFLEDS project – is that data owners themselves decide whether and with whom they share their data.

USEFLEDS: Unleashing Sector-coupling Flexibility by means of an Energy Data Space
The USEFLEDS project, running from 2023 to 2027, is funded as part of the FFG Digital Technologies 2022 call. The project coordinator is Forschung Burgenland GmbH. A total of 14 partners from research, education and business, as well as major energy suppliers, are involved.
One of the project partners is Alexander Steger with his Sustainable Development Agency. Together with akaryon GmbH, a company specializing in sustainability and digitalization, and its ESG management tool ESG-Cockpit, he has been working in recent months on a technical prototype for data integration – the “ESG Super Tool.”
The technical infrastructure for this ESG Super Tool is provided by the tech start-up nexyo, which specializes in data ecosystems and sovereign data exchange, and the conversational AI platform Onlim.
