Why was the decision made in favour of the ESG-Cockpit?
“We had previously looked very closely at the various software solutions available on the market. The decisive factor for us was that the software is continuously developed and integrates the changing legal requirements. Another reason for our decision was that the ESG-Cockpit is an Austrian solution and the stored datasets are Austria-specific. Since we very often advise companies operating in a niche market, the ability to create custom datasets was a must.”
What requirements do you have for the ESG-Cockpit?
“What is important to us is the continuous expansion of the available datasets and the easy implementation of our own data at a ‘global’ level. This way, our own data can be used across multiple projects and does not have to be entered separately each time.”
Since when has the ESG-Cockpit been in use and which modules are being used?
“We have been using the ESG-Cockpit since the beginning of 2024. We use the CO₂ accounting tool the most, as the focus of our consulting and projects is clearly on accounting. In addition, we also use the VSME module.”
What future requirements should be flexibly handled with the ESG-Cockpit?
“At the moment it is difficult to predict how the legal regulations will develop. We strongly assume that the VSME will be further upgraded and revised once more. With the ESG-Cockpit, we are confident that changes will be incorporated quickly, reliably and competently.”

CO₂ Comparative Calculation for a Construction Project
A client wanted a comparative calculation for their planned construction project: concrete building vs. solid timber construction. Only the shell construction was compared (foundation, wall structure and roof structure) for two building bodies with a total usable area of 135.26 m².
Some materials were not included in the standard catalogue and were taken from the Ökobaudat database. The GWP calculation was carried out using the ESG-Cockpit.
The detailed CO₂ balance served as the basis for the client’s decision. Due to the precise breakdown of the CO₂ footprint of the individual materials, the client decided in favour of timber construction – the CO₂ balance was one of the contributing factors in this decision.
